Is The NBA Too Easy For LeBron James?

As the NBA season winds down, personal achievements are getting closer to being determined. One of the most popular achievements is the NBA’s scoring title, which goes to the player who leads the league in scoring (for those of you who couldn’t already figure that out).

This season’s leading candidate at the moment is… LeBron James of the Cavs.

When James was asked about the scoring title he said, “It’s not important to me at all. I mean right now our team is in a position to try to clinch throughout the whole playoffs.”

James also added, “If I really wanted to, if I really wanted to be the scoring [champion] every single year — every single year — I could really do it.”

Now, about that second statement. Two things have me a little puzzled.

First of all, did this interview take place over a loudspeaker at the Metrodome? If it didn’t, then what’s with all of the repeating phrases by James? (Loudspeaker, Metrodome, echoes… You get the point.)

Secondly, is LeBron throwing the rest of the league under the bus? Is it really THAT easy for him to lead the league in scoring whenever he feels like it?

I don’t know about you, but I find that statement to be a little pompous on James’ part.

Clearly, fans say stuff like that all day long, but you never hear it from the athletes themselves unless they are joking. James, though, was definitely not joking.

Well, I guess everybody should head over to Vegas and place their bets for next year’s scoring champion. Forget Kobe, forget Durant, forget Wade, and remember what King James said, “If I really wanted to, if I really wanted to be the scoring [champion] every single year — every single year — I could really do it.”

You just better hope that he “really wants to.”

Sad part about this is I kind of want to agree with him. I have seen most of his games this season, and most of the times it seems like he goes through the motions and still gets his 28 points on a consistent basis, and is very efficient doing it. He doesn’t force many shots, and takes what the defense gives him. At times I get mad at him because he isn’t aggressive enough and defers to his teammates such a mo williams, d-west, and Jamison but thats just the way he plays. It really does seem like he can do whatever he wants out in the court and makes it look so easy to the point it seems he is lackadaisical doing it. He is entering the prime of his career, many like myself are critical of him developing into even a better player than he already is. And somehow he proves me wrong every year, and comes back with a new weapon in his arsenal. If he could further better his post up game and refine his jump shot a little bit more (I swear im asking a ton i know lol) than he would be even more unstoppable. There really isn’t anyone who can stop him, with the exception of himself. It will be interesting to seem him develop in the next to years and see what his limit really is? But as for his statement, yea it is an arrogant type of thing to say and it rubs me the wrong way but I can’t disagree with it.

Game 7 against the Lakers last night would be a struggle, mentally and physically, and they knew it.
