Fans of the Boston Bruins and humanity beware! The following is not for the weak-hearted.
The cheap-shot delivered by Matt Cooke resulted in the concussion of Marc Savard, and there is a good possibility that Savard will miss extended time.
According to Bruins’ head coach, Claude Julien, “A guy like that has to be suspended. That’s the way I see it, because it’s an elbow to the head from the blind side.
I would have to agree with Julien. It’s bad enough to go that high, but when it’s from the blind side, it takes it to a much higher level. A stunt like that is unacceptable, and it is a very effective way to seriously injure someone.
In my opinion, if Cooke is allowed to return to the ice before Savard is, it would be a huge injustice. The punishment should fit the crime, and as I see it, as long as Savard misses time, so should Cooke.
