Back on November 12th, following a game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat, LeBron James told reporter Craig Sager that he was going to change his number from 23 to 6, in order to show respect for Michael Jordan.
Well now, James is following through on that statement, as he filed the paperwork required to have his number changed.
“I’ve done it,” James told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I already sent it in. I’m going to be No. 6.”
Just for the record, this switch to number 6 is only locked in if he remains with the Cavs next season. If he doesn’t, he is free to choose any number he wants with his new team.
- In other LeBron news, after destroying the hopeless New York Knicks last night, James told a reporter, “I’ve yet to play for a team that doesn’t care about defense in my career.” For those of you who are having trouble decoding that message, it means that he is not interested in playing with the New York Knicks. Sorry, Knicks fans.
